Four STI-supported UTV and ATV racers at Round 7 of the WORCS Series earned podium finishes competing on the rough, sand-whooped course in St. George, Utah. Yamaha YXZ1000R driver Doug Eichner chose STI Chicane RX tires on HD5 Beadlock wheels for his Pro Stock SXS race at Sand Hollow State Park in St. George, Utah. Mike Sloan competes in the Pro ATV class, while Bryce Peart and Tyler Benally each race in the Pro-Am ATV class, and all three riders selected STI Tech 4 XC tires.
The Sand Hollow course is known for its rough nature and it was especially tough on tires this year. It combines deep sand whoops with rocks submerged in sand, as well as hard packed surfaces with rocks. STI’s tires and wheels were more than up to the challenge.
Eichner (#99 Yamaha YXZ) grabbed a runaway holeshot in the Pro Stock SXS race and turned that into a third-place finish. He credited his STI Chicane RX tires superior grip for the successful run.
“The STI Tires and Wheels got me the holeshot big time,” said Eichner. “I just ruined those guys. I ran the STI Chicane RXs and they worked great as always. The Yamaha worked great today with the STI wheels and tires, Fox Shocks and STV Bulletproof steering rack.”
In the Pro ATV race, Mike Sloan (#3 Yamaha) overcame a hard crash early in the race to record a third-place finish. He was making a run on the leader late in the race and earned his fourth podium of the season.
“I had a get off on the second lap, but I kept pushing,” said Sloan. “I was catching the leader and I got stuck in the scoring chute. That was the race.”
In Pro-Am ATV, Peart (#35 Honda) won his first WORCS ATV race on his STI Tires. Peart ran a different tire in practice and was unhappy with the results. So he returned to the STI Tech 4 XC tires and won the race.
“I went with a different tire setup yesterday and I didn’t like it, so I went back to the Tech 4 tires,” said Peart. “These STI tires are what I know and they work in all terrains. They are good tires.”
Benally (#24 Honda) ran a conservative pace in the race. After a good start, he finished third, marking his fourth podium of the season. Benally appreciates his STI’s ability to cope with anything.
“The STI Tech 4s were really hooking up,” said Benally. “I got a good start and got up into third. I’ve been running them for a couple years just because they are great in all conditions.”
STI Tires and Wheels will be back up front as the WORCS Series next heads to Iron Mine Racepark in St. George, UT May 19-21.Read More
